An explosive new year

After selling off nearly an entire collection of CDs that my brother and I had accumulated from our youth, I had a feeling that this year will be one of new things, fresh starts and, hopefully, an example of life fully lived.

Boxes and boxes of CDs

Boxes and boxes of CDs

Piles of 'em!

Piles of ’em!

Some of the "keepers"

Some of the “keepers”

We survived the Mayan Apocalypse, we made it to 2013, and I think it only right to celebrate that fact.

In the event of a Zombie Apocalypse ...

In the event of a Zombie Apocalypse …

... host a slammin' dance party!

… host a slammin’ dance party!

As I thought back on 2012, I remember seeing a Famines show with my buddy Chris and thinking, “Man, how awesome is Alberta?”

Even though,

Even though,

yes,

yes,

technically the Famines are no longer "in Alberta."

technically the Famines are no longer “in Alberta.”

Either way, there is great music here, a great community, beautiful surroundings.

Between a massive fireworks display on New Years Eve,

The bounty.

The bounty.

Fireworks casualty.

Fireworks casualty.

and a killer Big Business show at the Palomino,

Coady Willis is a beast.

Coady Willis is a beast.

Big Business love-in.

Big Business love-in.

2013 has started off with a bang, and I think things are only going up from here.
